Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday reached the United States for his 10th official visit. He is on a two-day trip to the US from February 12-13 and will hold a meeting with President Donald Trump.

The highly anticipated meeting with President Trump will take place the following day. This will be the first meeting between Modi and Trump after the latter's re-election as president.

Modi will be the fourth world leader to hold a bilateral meeting with Trump. The importance of this meeting has grown, as President Trump is expected to announce new tariffs on products from several countries on the same day. Both the Indian government and the market here will closely observe whether Trump imposes additional tariffs on Indian products.

It is certain that business-related issues will dominate the Modi-Trump meeting. India is likely to announce measures aimed at reducing its trade deficit with the United States.

Prime Minister Modi left for the US after completing a two-day visit to France. According to officials from the Ministry of External Affairs, Modi will meet with some company leaders in the US on Thursday, and later, at 4 pm (Washington time), he will reach the White House for a two-phase meeting with President Trump. The first meeting will be without officials, while the second one will involve officials from both sides.

The Indian delegation includes Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and India’s Ambassador to the US Vinay Kwatra. The Prime Minister will also meet with the Indian community in the US. Senior officials from the Ministry of External Affairs mentioned that the meeting between Modi and President Trump will cover all aspects of India-US bilateral relations.
