Zelenskyy Rules Out Territorial Concessions
The two leaders had agreed to remain in close communication. Their talk precedes Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington, where European leaders will also attend to back Kyiv as fears mount that Trump will pressure Ukraine into concessions benefiting Moscow. Zelenskyy, defying US pressure to abandon claims to Crimea or renounce hopes of joining NATO, threatened to reward Russia's aggression with its ultimate demand.
Zelenskyy reaffirmed that Kyiv will not cede any territory to Russia, dismissing speculation about possible land-for-peace deals. Speaking at the European Commission, he stressed that Ukraine’s constitution prohibits giving up land and noted that Moscow has failed for over a decade to fully capture the Donbas, a key industrial region vital to Ukraine’s coal and steel sectors.
