A social media storm erupted on Wednesday as the phrase "Republic of Balochistan announced" began trending on X, following a declaration of independence from Pakistan by prominent Baloch activists. Among the key voices was Mir Yar Baloch, a well-known writer and advocate for Baloch rights, who issued a series of statements claiming Balochistan’s separation from Pakistan and urging global recognition.
The announcement comes in the wake of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, particularly after India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK). Capitalising on the geopolitical moment, Mir Yar Baloch declared that Balochistan is now an independent republic, severed from what he called "terrorist Pakistan."
In a viral post, Mir Yar wrote, “The collapse of the terrorist Pakistan is near. We have claimed our independence and we request India to allow Balochistan’s official office, and embassy in Delhi.”
A possible announcement soon should be done as the collapse of the terrorist Pakistan is near.

Call For International Recognition
Mir Yar Baloch went further, appealing directly to the United Nations for diplomatic recognition and financial support. He demanded that the UN call a special session to recognise the newly declared Democratic Republic of Balochistan, and provide funds to establish official state functions, including the printing of currency and passports.
“There must be a release of billions of funds for currency and passport printing,” he said, calling on the international community to take immediate steps.
Violence In Dera Bugti, BLA Claims Attacks
The Declaration of Independence was followed by reports of unrest in the region. Mir Yar claimed that Baloch fighters had launched attacks on gas fields in Dera Bugti, a critical energy hub in Balochistan with over 100 gas wells.
The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a designated separatist group, claimed responsibility for seven coordinated attacks across multiple districts. According to BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch, these assaults were part of a broader campaign named “Operation Herof 2.0”, which reportedly involved 78 operations at 58 locations. In a statement, Jeeyand Baloch said, “These operations are a continuation of our resistance to end the occupation of Balochistan by Pakistan.”
