Russia has shared an AI-generated video depicting President Vladimir Putin dressed as Santa Claus, handing out Christmas gifts to world leaders, using symbolic imagery to convey Moscow’s geopolitical messaging. The video was posted on X by the Russian Embassy in Kenya and has since drawn wide attention online for its satirical portrayal of global diplomacy.
In the video, Putin appears in a red Santa-style outfit, walking toward a decorated Christmas tree surrounded by wrapped presents. Each gift is intended for a specific world leader and represents Russia’s view of its relationship with that country. The format blends festive visuals with pointed political symbolism at a time of heightened international tensions.
🎁 Christmas season is the time of giving, when Russia makes sure that all of its friends get something nice and are well and merry.

What PM Modi 'Received'
For India, the video shows Putin gifting fighter jets, a nod to the long-standing defence partnership between New Delhi and Moscow. India has historically relied on Russian military hardware, and the imagery reinforces Russia’s portrayal of India as a key strategic partner despite New Delhi’s growing ties with the West.
China’s gift takes the form of economic ornaments, suggesting deepening financial and trade cooperation between Moscow and Beijing. The imagery points to their shared efforts to strengthen bilateral trade, reduce reliance on the US dollar, and counter Western sanctions. In recent months, the Russian rouble has emerged as one of the world’s strongest-performing currencies, buoyed by strict capital controls, high interest rates and reduced demand for foreign currencies, according to reports.
China, Trump And Message To West
US President Donald Trump is shown receiving a framed image of his meeting with Putin on the sidelines of a peace summit in Alaska earlier this year. That high-profile meeting, which included a dramatic flypast involving US F-35 jets and a B-2 stealth bomber, ended without a breakthrough on Ukraine. While Trump later described the talks as “productive,” Russian officials have since said the momentum faded.
The video takes a sharper tone toward Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is depicted receiving handcuffs, with some versions showing him behind bars .
Other leaders also feature prominently. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is presented with a snow globe labelled “Akkuyu,” referencing Turkey’s first nuclear power plant being built by Russia’s Rosatom. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is shown receiving a sword with a note reading “From Russia with gratitude,” recalling symbolic weapon exchanges during their past meetings.
