In a tragic incident, nine Indian nationals lost their lives in a road accident in Saudi Arabia. The Indian Consulate in Jeddah confirmed the fatalities on Wednesday, stating that they are actively coordinating with local authorities and supporting the affected families. The accident occurred early Sunday morning, around 6 am, in the Wadi bin Hashbal region of Asir province, located south of Mecca.
The victims were among 26 workers travelling in a bus to their worksite in the southern port city of Jizan. The bus reportedly collided with a trailer, leading to the fatal crash. Saudi Red Crescent spokesperson Ahmed Asiri, as quoted by the Saudi Press Agency and Ahram Online, confirmed the incident and provided details of the location and time of the accident. Of the 26 passengers, nine were killed, while 11 sustained injuries, some of whom were Indian nationals.
Among the deceased was Kapeli Ramesh, a 32-year-old worker from Metpali Mandal in the Jagtial district of Telangana. Two injured workers from Telangana were also identified among the survivors.

Indian Consulate Condoles Deaths Of 9 Nationals
Expressing grief over the incident, the Indian Consulate in Jeddah posted on social media platform X, stating, “We deeply mourn the tragic loss of 9 Indian nationals in a road accident near Jizan in the Western Region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Our heartfelt condolences to the families affected.” The consulate assured its full support to the families of the deceased and the injured.
Additionally, a dedicated helpline has been set up by the Indian mission for any further queries and assistance. The consulate also wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the crash.
