As many as six persons died after a plane carrying mine workers crashed shortly after taking off in Canada, news agency AFP reported citing sources. As per the aviation sources, one person survived the accident. However, his condition is not known.

Military and federal police located the wreckage site and rescue teams landed there from a Hercules aircraft using parachutes. The team in Ontario’s Trenton said the plane lost communication shortly after it took off at about 8:50 am local time from Fort Smith, which is 320 kilometers (200 miles) southwest of the regional capital Yellowknife.
A Transportation Safety Board spokesman says the aircraft was a single-engine Piper PA-32, and the board is investigating the crash.
The hospital reportedly activated its mass casualty protocol. The Arctic territory's chief coroner Garth Eggerberger admitted there were casualties but did not divulge more details about the incident.

All the flights operating from Fort Smith were reportedly grounded till Wednesday owing to the mishap. Besides, a team has been constituted to probe the incident.
