Three Indian citizens have gone missing in Iran, prompting swift action from the Indian Embassy in Tehran. According to a statement issued by the embassy, the families of the missing individuals reached out to the mission with concerns about their relatives’ unexplained disappearance after travelling to Iran. "Family members of 3 Indian citizens have informed the Embassy of India that their relatives are missing after having travelled to Iran," the embassy stated. In response, officials have taken up the matter "strongly" with the Iranian authorities, urging an immediate and thorough investigation into the missing individuals' whereabouts and well-being.

“The Embassy has strongly taken up this matter with the Iranian authorities and requested that the missing Indians should be urgently traced and their safety ensured,” the statement emphasised.

Identities Undisclosed

While the identities of the latest missing individuals have not yet been publicly disclosed, the embassy confirmed that it is maintaining regular communication with the families and providing updates on any developments. The case has raised concerns, especially in light of a similar incident that occurred earlier this year.

In January 2025, three Indian nationals, Yogesh Panchal, Mohammad Sadeeque, and Sumeet Sud, also went missing in Iran after travelling under the country’s 15-day visa waiver program for business purposes. They were last known to be staying at a hostel in the Baherestan area of Tehran.

Later investigations revealed that the trio had been arrested for allegedly taking photographs in restricted zones. Iranian court lawyer Saeed Naqdi reported that Yogesh Panchal was arrested on December 4, 2024. Mohammad Sadeeque was deported earlier and has since travelled to Oman.
