United States President Donald Trump escalated pressure on Tehran on Thursday, saying that Iranian negotiators were "begging" Washington for a deal even as Iran does not publicly express willingness to negotiate. Trump further warned that if Tehran did not take the proposed terms seriously, the results "won’t be pretty".
“They are ‘begging’ us to make a deal… and yet they publicly state that they are only ‘looking at our proposal’. WRONG!!!” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.
He further added, “They better get serious soon, before it is too late… there is NO TURNING BACK, and it won’t be pretty!”
Trump then claimed that Iran had been “militarily obliterated” and had “zero chance of a comeback”.

Trump Targets NATO
In another post on Truth Social, Trump targeted NATO over not being supportive during the war against Iran.
“Nato nations have done absolutely nothing to help with the lunatic nation… of Iran,” Trump said. He further warned NATO saying he would “never forget this very important point in time”.

Meanwhile, Trump on Thursday also made an extraordinary claim that the Iranian leadership informally floated the idea of him becoming the next Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic. While speaking at a Republican fundraiser, the US President asserted that he turned down the offer.
He said, "There's never been a head of a country that wanted that job less than being the head of Iran." He went on and made a bizarre assertion, "We hear them very clearly. They say, I don't want it. We'd like to make you the next supreme leader. No, thank you. I don't want it."
The Trump administration had sent a 15-point peace plan to end the ongoing war in West Asia after announcing a five-day pause in attacks on the Iranian energy infrastructure. Iran acknowledged receiving the offer, but rejected it, calling it "excessive".
Iran is currently facing a leadership vacuum, as in the initial strikes of February 28, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed. Over 20 top leaders and officials in the government and military have been killed in the war, including the chief of security, Ali Larijani.
