US President Donald Trump faced an unexpected moment of tension on Monday while addressing the Israeli Knesset, just hours after the release of all surviving Israeli hostages. A left-wing Knesset member disrupted the speech, prompting immediate expulsion from the parliamentary hall.
“That was very efficient,” Trump commented lightly, drawing chuckles from the audience before continuing his remarks.

Historic Day Overshadowed By Heckling
Trump’s speech was meant to celebrate a “historic dawn of a new Middle East” following the US-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. The release of the last 20 hostages from Gaza had already brought relief, tears, and hugs at Tel Aviv’s Hostage Square, yet the interruption reminded all that political divisions remain strong within Israel.
Addressing the Knesset alongside Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump praised the Israeli leader, saying, “He is not the easiest guy to deal with, but that is what makes him great.” Despite the brief disruption, the President emphasized the significance of the hostage release as a turning point in the long-running Gaza conflict.
Emotional Reunions Mark The Day
The handover of hostages by Hamas under the supervision of the Red Cross brought emotional scenes. Families of freed captives expressed overwhelming joy. Viki Cohen, mother of released hostage Nimrod Cohen, said, “I am full of happiness. It’s hard to imagine how I feel in this moment. I didn’t sleep all night.”
Meanwhile, Palestinian prisoners freed under the ceasefire returned to Gaza and the Israeli-occupied West Bank, some looking visibly weak after imprisonment. During his speech, Trump described the day as “a great and beautiful day” and called the hostages’ return a “new beginning” for the region. He reassured that Hamas would comply with the ceasefire provisions, though the group has resisted disarmament in the past.
The peace process continues with a summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, where over 20 world leaders will discuss the next phase of Trump’s 20-point plan for Gaza. Key issues include governance in Gaza, the future of Palestinian statehood, and ensuring lasting compliance with the ceasefire.
