US President Donald Trump issued a sharply worded statement criticising both India and Russia, saying he has no concern over their growing ties, and accusing them of having "dead economies." "I don’t care what India does with Russia. They can take their dead economies down together, for all I care," Trump said in a post on Truth Social. He also criticised India’s trade policies, claiming, "We have done very little business with India; their tariffs are too high, among the highest in the world."

Trump rips into Russia's President's furious remarks

Trump added that the United States has minimal economic engagement with Russia and suggested it should remain that way. He also took aim at former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, calling him a "failed former President" and warning him to "watch his words," stating that Medvedev is "entering very dangerous territory."

The Republican's social media post follows recent remarks by former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, who warned of potential war if Donald Trump continued what he called "playing the ultimatum game." Medvedev, now Deputy Chair of Russia's Security Council, issued the warning on X two days ago, cautioning both Trump and the United States against issuing threats. His comments came in response to Trump’s demand that Russia end its war in Ukraine and agree to a ceasefire within 10 to 12 days, or face additional sanctions.

Someday Pakistan will be selling oil to India: Trump 

Earlier on Wednesday (local time), Trump said that Pakistan might sell oil to India "some day" after announcing that Washington has concluded a deal with Islamabad under which they will work together to develop the South Asian country's oil reserves. "We have just concluded a Deal with the Country of Pakistan, whereby Pakistan and the United States will work together on developing their massive Oil Reserves. We are in the process of choosing the Oil Company that will lead this Partnership. Who knows, maybe they'll be selling Oil to India some day!" Trump said in a post on Truth Social on Wednesday.

Trump announces 25 per cent tariff on India

Trump's post came hours after he announced a 25 per cent tariff on India and an additional penalty for India's purchases of Russian military equipment and energy. Trump said the White House has been "very busy" working on trade deals, and he will be meeting with the South Korean trade delegation. "Likewise, other Countries are making offers for a Tariff reduction. All of this will help reduce our Trade Deficit in a very major way. A full report will be released at the appropriate time," he said.
