North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and his daughter, Kim Ju Ae, have once again grabbed eyeballs amid talks of succession. The duo appeared in coordinated outfits during a high-profile military inspection. The father-daughter duo wore matching black leather trench coats while visiting a strategic missile unit.
In the highly symbolic world of North Korean politics, these "twin" outfits serve as a deliberate statement aimed at cementing the young girl's status as the heir apparent to the Kim dynasty.
'Morning Star Of Korea'
This recent appearance seems to be a part of a broader, carefully choreographed effort to normalise Kim Ju Ae's presence among the nation's military elite. Since her public debut in late 2022, her profile has transformed rapidly from being introduced as a "beloved daughter" to being referred to by state media with titles such as "respected daughter" and the "morning star of Korea".
These titles hold a historical relevance and are usually used for those who are designated to carry on the Paektu bloodline. By dressing her as a "mini-me" of himself, Kim Jong Un is mirroring his own authority onto her and signaling a seamless continuity of leadership.
South Korea's National Intelligence Service has underlined the frequency of her public appearances, often positioned at the center of photographs surrounded by top-ranking generals. These developments suggested she is being groomed for the top spot.

By bringing her to strategic weapon tests and missile sites, the regime is also framing its nuclear arsenal as a "legacy" asset intended to protect future generations of the Kim lineage. While North Korean leadership has traditionally been a patriarchal stronghold, the visual messaging through matching coats and military deference suggests that the groundwork is being laid for the fourth generation of the family to take control.
