London’s Heathrow Airport was placed on high alert on Sunday after a violent incident at a multi-storey car park left multiple people injured and caused widespread travel disruption. Emergency services were called to the Terminal 3 car park at around 8:11 am (local time) following reports of a “significant incident”. Armed police, paramedics and fire crews rushed to the scene as a precaution.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a group of men allegedly sprayed several people with what is believed to be pepper spray before fleeing the area. Officers believe the incident stemmed from an argument between individuals who were known to each other, which escalated into violence. Police stressed that the episode was not related to terrorism.
One man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault and remains in police custody. Enquiries are ongoing to trace additional suspects who left the area shortly after the attack.

Multiple Injuries, Hospitalisations Confirmed
The London Ambulance Service treated a total of 21 people at the airport. Of these, five were taken to the hospital for further care. Authorities said that none of the injuries were believed to be life-threatening or life-changing. Emergency crews remained on-site for several hours, with the ambulance service and fire brigade standing down shortly before midday.
Travel Disruptions And Congestion Continue
Heathrow Airport confirmed that the situation had now been contained by police, but warned of ongoing congestion on roads surrounding the airport. A spokesperson said increased police presence would remain in place to reassure passengers and maintain safety.
Travellers were advised to use public transport where possible as access to some car parks and approach roads remained restricted. Several flights experienced delays due to the disruption, although terminal operations were reported to be functioning normally.
Police Rule Out Terror Link
A Metropolitan Police commander said officers were confident the incident was an isolated dispute and not connected to any wider security threat. “We believe the incident involved a group of people known to each other, with an argument escalating and resulting in a number of people being injured,” the commander said.
