Amid Trump's crackdown on immigration, Texas Republican Congressman Brandon Gill is facing criticism online after posting about mass migration. Gill, married to Danielle D'Souza, the daughter of Indian immigrant and conservative commentator Dinesh D’Souza, shared a post on X comparing California in the 1960s to today, suggesting immigration has harmed the state.
The post showed a 1960s beach scene with blonde beachgoers and a chaotic image from the Los Angeles riots, including a man waving a Mexican flag. Critics pointed out the irony, noting Gill’s wife is the daughter of an immigrant, and shared family photos to highlight the contradiction. This isn’t Gill’s first controversy. He made similar anti-immigrant comments in March, which also drew backlash. Dinesh D’Souza defended him, saying he opposes multiculturalism despite his own immigrant background.

One user commented 'Your wife a is first generation American and your father-in-law is an immigrant from India (and a convicted felon for his actions in America)." Another user commented, "This is hella racist… Notice how you don't say illegal immigration or illegal migrants, you said 'mass migration', legal and illegal. See, this is why no likes y'all. Evil from the beginning, current events are just talking points with sprinkles of truth for the malice in you."

Donald Trump's immigration policy hitting Indians
The trolling came after a viral video showing a young Indian student being handcuffed and deported at Newark Liberty International Airport. The disturbing footage has ignited widespread outrage and highlighted the impacts of the Trump administration’s intensified immigration crackdown. A few weeks ago, the US Embassy had already cautioned Indian citizens that overstaying even by a few days could have severe consequences.
Later, the United States Embassy in India on Monday issued a sharp reminder for Indian travellers, emphasising the consequences of overstaying their visas. The embassy stated, “The United States continues to welcome legitimate travellers to our country. However, there is no right to visit the United States. We cannot and will not tolerate illegal entry, abuse of visas, or the violation of US law.”
