The Pentagon has released footage of US Air Force B-2 Spirit bombers taking off for “Operation Midnight Hammer,” a precision strike on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. The mission, involving seven B-2 bombers, is now recognised as the largest and most ambitious use of the aircraft to date.

The bombers launched from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri on June 21, embarking on a 37-hour non-stop mission. The flight, which involved mid-air refuelling, was the second-longest in B-2 history, second only to missions flown during Operation Enduring Freedom in 2001.

Targets included three heavily fortified nuclear sites: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. The bombers were equipped with the GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP), a 30,000-pound bomb capable of burrowing through 200 feet of concrete. The strikes aimed to cripple Iran’s nuclear enrichment and weapons capabilities.

Trump Confirms Strike Was “Very Successful”

Just hours after the mission, President Donald Trump confirmed the strike via social media, calling it “very successful” and claiming the nuclear sites were “obliterated.” Trump had previously said he would decide within two weeks whether to strike Iran, a delay seen by analysts as a strategic distraction.

The operation marked a significant shift in US involvement, moving from diplomatic hesitation to full military engagement in the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict. The B-2 strike came after nine days of Israeli air raids and is seen as a show of force in support of Israel’s campaign.

Iran Denies Damage, Vows Retaliation

Despite the Pentagon’s claims, Iranian officials have denied any critical damage to their nuclear program. Tehran condemned the attack as an act of aggression and pledged to retaliate, heightening fears of a broader regional war.

The mission demonstrated the unmatched stealth, precision, and range of the B-2 bomber, which returned safely to Missouri without detection. With 420,000 pounds of explosives dropped, Operation Midnight Hammer has reshaped the military and geopolitical landscape of the Middle East.
