2025 Mahindra Thar Facelift Changes: Mahindra launched its facelifted Thar off-roader at an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs 9.99 lakh, with the top-end variant costing Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Thar was given a mid-lifecycle update after five years, with major changes concentrated on its interior. Alongside, the brand also updated the variant nomenclature from AX and LX to AXT and LXT, respectively. Having said that, the Thar facelift continues with a hard-top roof. Mahindra Thar: New vs Old – Better Ergonomics
Over the older model, the Thar facelift gets the following ergonomic updates:
- A Pillar-mounted grab handle for both driver and co-driver (standard)
- A sliding centre armrest with storage
- Power window switches now on the door trims (earlier on the centre console)
- Internally operated fuel lid
- Deal pedal (Thar AT)

Mahindra Thar: New vs Old – Feature Upgrades
The 2025 Mahindra Thar brings the following feature enhancements:
- More modern steering wheel (similar to Thar Roxx)
- Bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment with a new user interface
- Rear AC vents
- Rearview camera mounted on a spare wheel hub
- Rear wiper and washer
- Type C charging ports for both front and rear passengers
- Tyre Direction Monitoring System (TDMS)
Mahindra Thar: New vs Old – Exterior Updates
While retaining its rugged appeal, the Thar facelift offers the following changes over the pre-facelift version:
- Body-coloured front grille
- Dual-tone bumpers (with a silver insert)
- Two new exterior colours (Tango Red and Battleship Grey)
Mahindra Thar: New vs Old – Price
The starting price of the updated Thar is Rs 9.99 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom), making the new Thar around Rs 32,000 less expensive than the outgoing version's base variant. At the top of the line-up sits the LXT 4WD AT priced at Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The top-spec version of the older Thar, meanwhile, costs Rs 16.61 lakh (ex-showroom).
Mahindra Thar Facelift: Engine Options Remain Same
Under the hood, the Thar facelift retains its two diesel engines (1.5-litre and 2.2-litre) and single 2.0-litre petrol unit, mated to their respective gearboxes.
