Air Taxi In India:  The Andhra Pradesh government will set up India’s giga-scale electric air taxi manufacturing hub at Anantapur district. The state government has signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Bengaluru-based Sarla Aviation, and the announcement was made at the CII Partnership Summit in Vishakhapatnam.

Electric Air Taxi Manufacturing Hub

As informed earlier, the electric Air Taxi manufacturing plant will be set up in the Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. The facility will span an area of 500 acres, and Sarla Aviation will invest a total of Rs 1300 crore in the first phase. The MoU was handed over to the company by the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, N Chandrababu Naidu, in the presence of Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu and the state minister BC Janardhan Reddy.

The ‘Sky Factory’ Of India

The facility, being dubbed the world’s largest ‘Sky Factory’ by Sarla Aviation, will provide a complete ecosystem for electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft. The company is aiming to create a place for designing, manufacturing, testing, certifying, and operating the next-generation aircraft for India. The facility will feature composite manufacturing units, powertrain and avionics lines, India’s largest wind tunnel, Simulation and pilot training centres, MRO facilities, and a two-kilometre-long runway, along with VTOL testing pods.
