Italian two-wheelers manufacturer, Aprilia, on Friday launched its mid-performance sports bike, the Aprilia RS457, in the Indian market. The RS457, which is Aprilia's most affordable bike in India, has been launched at a starting price of Rs 4.10 Lakh (Ex-Showroom, Delhi). The pre-bookings for the Aprilia RS457 will begin on December 15, 2023, on the official website of Aprilia India. Customers can also pre-book the Aprilia RS457 at the authorised Aprilia dealerships across India at Rs 10,000. Designed especially for racing enthusiasts and for the new generation of bikers, the Aprilia RS457 is the brand's first made-in-India offering. Meanwhile, the deliveries of the Aprilia RS457 is expected to begin from March 2024.
Speaking at the launch, which took place at India Bike Week in Goa, Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd Chairman and MD, Diego Graffi, said, "Performance luxury is core to Aprilia vehicles and they all come with a racing DNA. The introduction of the RS 457 is a new chapter for India’s sports bike category and the mid-performance segment is a perfect gateway to get into serious sports biking. We believe that the Indian mid-performance market is at the cusp of a revolution and sports bikes will make serious headway in a predominantly cruiser-dominated market."
All About Aprilia RS457:
Aprilia RS457 Engine:
The all-new Aprilia RS457 is powered by a liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, generating 47.6 bhp and 43.5 Nm of Torque. The engine has a dual camshaft timing and four valves per cylinder. Aprilia RS457's power-to-weight ratio is 159 kg dry weight. The Aprilia RS 457 is equipped with a six-speed gearbox paired with a slipper clutch. The engine block is used as a load-bearing element which is similar to the Aprilia RS 660.
Further, the Aprilia RS457 is equipped with preload-adjustable USD front forks and a mono-shock at the rear. The braking system includes a 320 mm disc at the front with a Bybre 4-piston radial calliper and a 220 mm disc at the rear with a single-piston floating calliper. The RS 457 sits on 17-inch alloys with 110/70 tyres on the front and 150/60 tyres at the rear.
Aprilia RS457 Features and Design:
In terms of design, the RS457 takes its style cues from the RS660. Boasting cuts and creases all over with sharp bodywork, the Aprilia RS457 also gets split LED headlights and a proper supersport motorcycle silhouette. Other features include engine maps, traction control, ABS, an anti-roll system, three riding modes, and a five-inch TFT.
This sportbike offers a choice of three color schemes black, white, and silver. Designed for the true supersport experience, it offers an aggressive riding posture with a sporty triangle layout. The fairing on the bike has vents for improved aerodynamics. The Aprilia RS457 rivals the KTM RC390, TVS Apache RR310, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Ninja 400, and the upcoming Yamaha YZF-R3.
