Bajaj Chetak 3501 Comparison: Yamaha Motor Company recently unveiled its new River Indie-based EC-06 electric scooter. Although both scooters are platform siblings, the EC-06 distinguishes itself with its clean and minimalist design. The scooter also adopts a minimalist approach in features. Yamaha has yet to reveal the price of the EC-06 next year, and upon launch, Yamaha's scooter will face competition from the Bajaj Chetak Electric and the TVS iQube. Here, we have compared the Yamaha EC-06 with the Bajaj Chetak 3501 with a comparable battery capacity and price tag to find out how they fare against each other:

Bajaj Chetak 3501 Vs Yamaha EC-06: Battery, Range

Yamaha's newly unveiled EC-06 draws power from a 4kWh battery that transmits power to a 9bhp electric motor. The setup enables the scooter to achieve a top speed of 90km/h. The scooter has a claimed IDC range of 160km on a single charge. 

On the other hand, Bajaj offers the Chetak electric scooter in four variants: 3001, 3503, 3502, and 3501. The top-spec 3501 variant is available in a 3.5kWh battery configuration, which also applies to other 35 series models. With 153km (claimed), the Chetak 3501 is almost on par with the Yamaha EC-06. The 3501 is limited to 73km/h.

Bajaj Chetak 3501 Vs Yamaha EC-06: Charging Time

A standard socket is offered with Yamaha's EC-06, enabling the battery to be fully charged in 9 hours, considered one of the longest charging times in the fast-evolving electric scooter space. Meanwhile, the Chetak 3501 takes just 3 hours for a full charge, courtesy of a 950W charger.

Whereas the EC-06 makes do with a colour LCD console with built-in telematics and a SIM, the Chetak 3501 edges out the competition with a premium TFT dash, which is a touchscreen unit.

Bajaj Chetak 3501 Vs Yamaha EC-06: Price

The price of the EC-06 has yet to be disclosed, but we expect it to command a slight premium over the Indie (Rs 1.46 lakh, ex-showroom). If that materialises, the Chetak 3501 will be the more affordable model, currently priced at Rs 1.23 lakh (ex-showroom).
