Bajaj Pulsar NS400: Bajaj Pulsar is one of the most loved bikes in India. Since its launch in 2001, several versions of Pulsar have been launched and not a single version has failed to grab the interest of bike enthusiasts. Currently, Bajaj offers nine Pulsar bikes, ranging from 125cc to 250cc catering to its lovers in different segments.
Now, days after launching the Bajaj Pulsar N150, Bajaj CEO Rajiv Bajaj has ignited another buzz with his recent announcement that the manufacturer is working on its largest Pulsar model to date. As per a report by Autocar India, Bajaj is planning to bring a more powerful version of NS200, which is expected to be called NS400.
The Pulsar NS200 was launched 11 years ago in 2012 and the bike instantly grabbed the market leaving its competitors way behind. In 2016, Bajaj introduced its most powerful bike, Dominar 400. Now, the Indian two-wheeler giant is expected to bring its powerful 400 cc engine to the NS series with the launch of NS400, which is likely to be launched next year.
NS400 Engine and Design Details:
According to Autocar India, the Bajaj Pulsar NS400 will utilise the existing perimeter chassis found in the NS200, which is known for holding much more power than the NS200, which generates 25bhp of power. While the chassis will be fortified and adapted to accommodate the larger engine, the overall size and dimensions are expected to mirror the current Pulsar NS200. The NS400 is also likely to weigh less than the Dominar 400.
Bajaj has reportedly decided to retain the engine of the Dominar 400 for the upcoming NS400, which will likely be equipped with a six-speed gearbox and a slip assist clutch. Bajaj currently manufactures three engines in this category, including the 373cc unit in the Dominar, the new 399cc engine in the Triumph Speed 400 and the third-generation KTM 390 Duke engine.
In terms of design, while it remains to be seen how extensive the changes will be, it is reasonable to anticipate a design resembling the current NS family. There is also the possibility that the NS400 will introduce new features, including connectivity options and potentially an LED headlamp.
The Bajaj Pulsar NS400 is also expected to be positioned below the Dominar 400, which cost Rs 2.3 lakh (ex-showroom). This would make it the most affordable option among the 40hp, 400cc motorcycles available in the Indian market.
