BMW Motorrad recently launched the M 1000 RR in India and the brand has now unveiled the third model in its M lineup. BMW Motorrad has unveiled the M 1000 XR which is based on the S 1000 XR and S 1000 RR models and the brand is claiming it to be a long-distance sports bike. As per BMW Motorcycles India, the M 1000 XR is expected to launch in all international markets including India soon.
BMW M 1000 RR - Engine
Talking about the engine specs of the M 1000 XR, it shares the same water-cooled, in-line four-cylinder engine as the S 1000 XR. However, the engine has been tuned to generate a greater power output of 198 bhp and 113 Nm of torque which is 30 bhp more than the S 1000 XR. The M 1000 XR is capable of achieving a top speed of 280 km/h making it the most powerful and lightweight motorcycle in its segment.
BMW M 1000 RR - Features
In terms of design, the M 1000 XR gets features like a 6.5-inch digital instrument cluster, lightweight aluminium wheels and M-specific elements like the M winglets. BMW Motorrad is also offering the M Competition Package as optional which will include various M Carbon components like M Carbon wheels including a rear wheel cover with an integrated chain guard, side panels, front wheel cover, inner cover, and an ignition/steering lock cover. Additionally, it is equipped with a fully adjustable M rider footrest system, passenger footrests and the MGPS Laptrigger. The M Competition Package helps in the kerb weight of the motorcycle by 3 kgs because of the carbon components used in this package.
Additionally, the M 1000 XR gets M brakes with twin 320 mm discs at the front and 265 mm single discs at the rear. There are five driving modes to choose from that include Rain, Road, Dynamic, Race and Race Pro1-3. The M 1000 XR is equipped with safety features like Brake Slide Assist, Shift Assistant Pro, Launch Control, Hill Start Control Pro, Adjustable Steering Damper among others.
