Mahindra Thar is one of the best-selling SUVs in India because of its popular looks, prominent road presence while also being affordable for the middle class population of India. Mahindra recently revealed the Thar.e concept as well which is the EV counterpart of the Thar SUV. Additionally, as we have reported earlier that Mahindra is in the works to launch a 5-door variant of the Thar that will be positioned above the existing 3-door Thar in Mahindra’s vehicle lineup.

Mahindra 5-door Thar - Design 

The Mahindra 5-door variant has been spotted testing again and looks like it is in its final production stage from the spy images that have surfaced online. In terms of design, the 5-door Thar spy images reveal that there’s a new front grille with a horizontal separator in the lower portion of the grille. The spy images have also revealed that the test mule that has been spotted is fitted with LED fog lamps, LED headlights and DRLs. The rear end of the 5-door Thar test mule also gets LED taillights which are not present in the 3-door variant. Moreover, it is expected that the 5-door Thar will also get a single-pane sunroof with the hardtop being the only option available for the SUV. 

Mahindra 5-door Thar - Interior 

An interesting feature that has been noticed in the spotted images is the incorporation of a dashcam that has been placed right behind the infotainment screen. The Thar 5-door variant is expected to get a larger 10.25 inch touchscreen display in comparison to the 7-inch touchscreen used in the existing 3-door variant. Additionally, features like a new steering wheel borrowed from the Mahindra XUV700, height-adjustable seat belt, redesigned front armrest, cup holders located behind the gear lever and inclusion of a USB-C charging port are all expected in the 5-door Thar.

There has been no confirmation on the launch of the 5-door Thar yet by Mahindra but we are anticipating that the SUV can be launched in the Indian market next year.
