BYD Seal Bookings Open: BYD India, a Chinese EV manufacturer, is gearing up to launch a new electric vehicle in the country, the Seal sedan. Ahead of its official launch, BYD India has opened bookings for the Seal sedan. The electric sedan is scheduled to be officially launched in the Indian market on March 5th. Post its launch, the BYD seal will be positioned as the Chinese EV manufacturer’s new flagship electric vehicle, joining the brand's current lineup consisting of the e6 MPV and the Atto3 crossover SUV. Moreover, customers who book the BYD Seal before April 30, 2024, will have the opportunity to receive a free UEFA match ticket along with a round-trip flight ticket from India to the match city.

BYD Seal: Range, battery and performance

The BYD Seal is available with single and dual-motor options, the single-motor variant is capable of delivering a power output of 308 bhp and 360 Nm of torque, while the dual-motor powertrain delivers a power output of 522 bhp and 670 Nm of torque. 

In terms of driving range, the 82.5 kWh battery pack boasts a WLTP-claimed range of 570 km, whereas the dual-motor setup has a slightly reduced range of 520 km. For those opting for the smaller 61.4 kWh battery pack, the WLTP-claimed range is 460 km. 

BYD Seal: Safety rating

The BYD Seal stands out as one of the safest electric vehicles available in the Indian market, as it has achieved a 5-star safety rating in the Euro NCAP crash test. The Seal EV performed impressively across various categories, scoring 89 per cent for adult occupants, 87 per cent for child occupants, 82 per cent for Vulnerable Road Users and 76 per cent in Safety Assist.

During testing, the Seal EV was equipped with a range of safety features including dual front airbags, belt pretensioners, belt load limiters, side airbags and a centre airbag. Additionally, the vehicle featured ISOFIX child seat mounts, an airbag cut-off switch, and seatbelt reminders. Among its safety systems, the Seal EV offers Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Assist System, and Fatigue/Distraction Detection, further enhancing its safety credentials for potential buyers.
