Delhi EV Policy 2.0:  The Delhi government is planning on bringing a new EV policy, as the existing EV policy has failed to boost the sales of EVs in the state, and it has already been extended several times. The existing EV policy in Delhi was introduced in 2020 for three years. The draft of the Delhi EV Policy 2.0 is expected to be released by the first week of January 2026. Let’s take a look at the new rules that can be a part of the Delhi EV policy 2.0.

Delhi EV Policy 2.0: Affordable EVs

The Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, recently posted on the social media X (previously Twitter), sharing that the Delhi EV Policy 2.0 might be implemented from next year onwards. The post shared by the Chief Minister also shared that the EVs will be made more affordable by providing additional discounts/bonuses on old vehicle scrapping. The X post shared by the Chief Minister also shared that more charging stations will be added to public places and colonies, and a new system for battery swapping will also be introduced.

Delhi EV Policy 2.0: Higher Subsidy

The Delhi EV Policy 2.0 is also anticipated to make EVs more affordable by providing higher subsidies. As per media reports, the government is planning on offering subsidies of up to Rs 40,000 to people switching from ICE scooters to EV two-wheelers. The government is also expected to provide subsidies of up to 50 per cent on electric cars. Higher subsidies are also expected for people switching from commercial three-wheelers to Electric three-wheelers.
