Electric Car Care Tips For Summer: As summer approaches, we need to prepare ourselves for the upcoming hot weather in India. Places like the northwest and central regions often undergo severe heat waves during the peak summer months. This hot weather is challenging for both us and our electric vehicles (EVs). If you don't take good care of your EV in the summer, it can harm its health and reduce its lifespan. Here are some important tips to keep your EV running in optimal condition during the summer.

Preconditioning

Preconditioning is available in most electric vehicles and it is useful for both summer and the cold weather. This feature lets you pre-cool your car's cabin while improving range and ensuring a comfortable drive. It saves time and energy and can be conveniently controlled through the app.

Park I Shade

To prevent your electric vehicle's battery from overheating and maximise its range, avoid parking in direct sunlight. Park in a shady spot under a tree, in a garage, or any shaded area whenever possible. This simple tip can help conserve energy by reducing the need for cooling.

Smart Charging

Automotive experts recommend maintaining your electric vehicle's charge between 20 per cent and 80 per cent to preserve battery health. This practice is particularly crucial in hot weather as prolonged charging increases battery temperature, similar to mobile phones. If the battery is charged for long durations in summers, this can lead to faster battery degradation and reduced performance.

Tyre Pressure

Maintaining proper tyre pressure is essential for optimal performance and efficiency in not just your electric vehicle but also in your ICE powered vehicle. In hot weather, air inside tires can expand, causing overinflation. Regularly check and adjust tyre pressure according to the manufacturer's recommendations to ensure your EV performs efficiently and safely.

Don’t Charge Immediately After Driving

To prevent overheating, avoid immediately charging your electric vehicle (EV) after driving, especially if the charger is in direct sunlight. Best time to charge your EV is in the night or early morning when temperatures are cooler. This significantly helps in maintaining the battery health of your electric vehicle.
