SUVs (Sport Utility Vehicles) have been witnessing a significant demand in the automobile industry of India. SUVs have been becoming a more popular choice owing to their sporty and aggressive road presence. SUVs are also segregated into categories such as full-size SUVs, off-road SUVs, mid-size SUVs and sub-four metre SUVs. Here’s a list of some popular off-road SUVs available in India.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny 

Maruti Suzuki Jimny was launched in India in January 2023 at the Auto Expo 2023. It was launched in both 3-door and 5-door variants at a price tag of Rs 12.74 lakh that goes up to Rs 15.05 lakh (ex-showroom). It is powered by a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine that is capable of producing a power output of 103 bhp and 134 Nm of torque. Notable features onboard the Maruti Suzuki Jimny include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, and automatic climate control.

Mahindra Thar 

Mahindra Thar is an off-road SUV that is immensely popular in India. It is available with prices ranging from Rs 10.98 lakh to Rs 16.94 lakh (ex-showroom). Mahindra Thar is a 3-door SUV that is available with three engine options - a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine, a 2.2-litre diesel engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. All these engines produce a power output of 152 bhp, 130 bhp and 118 bhp. In terms of features, it is equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, manual AC and steering-mounted controls and detachable roof panels.

Force Gurkha 

Force Gurkha is also a 3-door SUV and it is available in a single variant that comes at a price tag of Rs 15.10 lakh (ex-showroom). The Force off-road SUV is powered by a 2.6-litre diesel engine that is capable of producing 89 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. Force Gurkha is equipped with some top-notch features such as a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, manual AC, a 4-speaker sound system and front power windows.
