Fastag KYC, Balance Check, Porting: The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has recently removed Paytm Payments Bank Ltd (PPBL) from its list of 30 authorised banks for FASTag services. This decision comes after the regulatory concerns over alleged rule violations, prompting NHAI to take this action. As a result, all Paytm FASTag users will need to acquire new RFID stickers, as Paytm FASTags will stop being operational after March 15.
With over 70 million FASTag users in India, Paytm Payments Bank claimed that more than 15 million users will be affected. As a result, the affected users will have to switch to a different bank for FASTags to avoid potential toll reduction related issues post March 15. Post March 15, 2024, all Paytm FASTag users will be required to open a new FASTag account with any of the other FASTag providers. Their existing Paytm FASTag will be invalid after March 15 as per the new guideline by NHAI.
How To Open A New FasTAG Account?
It is essential to deactivate your old FASTag account before getting a new one. None of the authorised banks issue a new FASTag for a vehicle with an active FASTag account. Therefore, first deactivate your old FASTag account. Afterwards, download the My FASTag app from the Google Play Store. Once installed, select the option to buy a new FASTag within the app. This will redirect you to an e-commerce link where you can purchase a new FASTag that will be delivered to you. To activate the new FASTag, click on the "Activate FASTag" option in the app and choose either Amazon or Flipkart. Once selected, enter the FASTag ID and vehicle details to complete the activation process. You can also purchase a new FASTag by contacting one of the authorised banks that issue them. Some of the banks that issue FASTags include Airtel Payments Bank, Allahabad Bank, Bank of Baroda, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, IDBI Bank, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India and Yes Bank.
