Electric Aircraft:  Beta Technologies’ Alia CX300 has become the first all-electric aircraft to fly passengers. The Alia CX300 electric aircraft took off from East Hampton and landed at JFK airport in New York during its first flight, carrying 4 passengers. The aircraft covered 130 kilometers during this flight, and it cost only 8 dollars (Approximately Rs 694) as per the report by Fox News.

The all-electric aircraft took 30 minutes to cover 130 kilometers, and a similar trip from a Helicopter would have cost around Rs 13,000 for fuel only. This is the first time that an all-electric aircraft has taken flight, and it is being considered a big leap toward sustainable aviation. The flight of Alia CX-300 marks a historic milestone for the New York Port, along with the electric aviation segment.

The all-electric aircraft offers several other benefits when compared to a regular aircraft carrier. While it offers reduced costs, it also offers nearly silent flight. As per media reports, the passengers sitting inside the aircraft were able to hold conversations easily, which can be a revolutionary move. The electric aircraft is expected to reduce not just the CO2 levels, but the sound pollution as well.

Beta Technologies is a Vermont-based company that has been working on electric aviation and related technology since 2017. The brand also raised a fund of 318 million dollars recently, to accelerate production, certification, and roll-out of its fleet. The Alia CX300 has a range of 463 kilometers once fully charged. The brand is also working on an eVTOL aircraft named Alia 250, which is expected to come equipped with vertical takeoff and landing capabilities.
