Ford Compact SUV: US based automobile manufacturer Ford Motors is expected to make a comeback in the Indian market with a range of new products. One of the significant highlights of these new products includes a compact SUV designed specifically for India. The American automaker has patented a new design for this SUV, which is not currently available in any global markets. This model is set to compete in the popular compact SUV segment which is currently dominated by the Hyundai Creta.

Ford Compact SUV - Design

As visible in the design patents, the front profile of the compact SUV features a muscular bonnet, a sizable grille with Ford’s blue oval logo at the center, LED DRLs flanking the grille, and main headlamps positioned on the bumper. Additionally, the design patents do not show a sunroof, however, it is expected to be offered when Ford’s compact SUV is launched in the country.

From the design elements seen in the front fascia of the compact SUV, it appears to closely resemble a prototype spotted in 2020, which was rumored to have been developed in collaboration with Mahindra. Ford seems to have retained the design of that compact SUV and will develop it with its own powertrain and engine options.

Ford Compact SUV - Interior

The interior of Ford’s compact SUV is expected to resemble other Ford models that are sold in  international markets. It is expected that it will be equipped with features such as a large infotainment unit, digital cluster, sunroof, 360-degree camera, wireless charger, and ADAS to position it successfully in the highly competitive segment.

Ford Compact SUV - Rivals

Post its launch, Ford’s compact SUV will compete against popular models such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Honda Elevate and MG Astor.
