Maruti Suzuki, in order to keep up with the growing technological advancements in vehicles, has revealed plans to introduce the Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS) in its popular SUV model, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. The ADAS-equipped Grand Vitara SUV is expected to be launched by March 2024.

According to a report by Moneycontrol, the ADAS-equipped Grand Vitara will be manufactured by Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), which is already responsible for manufacturing the Grand Vitara. Maruti Suzuki India Limited's parent company, Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) has collaborated with Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) for the manufacturing and production of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. The car will be built at TKM's facility located in Karnataka, where the Hyryder (rebranded Grand Vitara) is also manufactured. Additionally, the Moneycontrol report also revealed that Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is also in the works to launch an ADAS-equipped Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Though, there is no confirmation on this information yet.

ADAS or Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, is a system designed with electronic features to enhance safety for drivers, passengers and pedestrians. ADAS features include adaptive cruise control, emergency brake assist, automatic emergency brake assist, lane-keeping, lane centering, highway assist, autonomous obstacle avoidance, autonomous parking and more.

Due to the incorporation of Level 2 ADAS suite in the SUV, it is fair to assume that prices of the Grand Vitara will be increased from Rs 50,000-75,000. The current prices of the Grand Vitara SUV range from Rs 10.70 lakh to  Rs 19.20 lakh (ex-showroom). The new model of the Grand Vitara will compete with other vehicles that have the ADAS suite like the Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Toyota Hyryder and the upcoming Hyundai Creta facelift.
