GST Rates 2025:  The Indian government announced GST 2.0 on September 4, 2025, and the new rates came into effect on September 22, 2025. It was also the first day of Navratri on September 22, and the combination of new GST rates and festive offers significantly boosted the demand for brands such as Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai.

Maruti Suzuki Records Highest Single-Day Delivery

India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, received a significant boost in demand on the first day of Navratri. As per several media reports, the brand recorded around 80,000 enquiries, and it also delivered more than 25,000 cars in a single day. The brand is anticipated to touch the 30,000 delivery mark soon, which is considered the highest number of deliveries made in a single day by the brand in the past 35 years.

Hyundai Records Highest Single-Day Sale

Hyundai, the South Korean car manufacturer, also witnessed a significant increase in demand, and it recorded sales of 11,000 units. According to Tarun Garg, Whole Time Director and COO of Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL), this is the highest single-day sale made by the brand in the past 5 years. Addressing the Development, Tarun Garg said ‘The auspicious start of Navratri, amplified by the momentum from GST 2.0 reforms, has infused strong positivity into the market. On Day 1 alone, Hyundai Motor India Limited recorded around 11,000 Dealer billings, which is our highest single-day performance in the last five years. This is a clear testament to robust festive sentiment and customer confidence.’

GST 2.0 And Festive Offers Induce Demand

The Indian government announced GST 2.0, and the new GST rates came into effect from September 22, 2025. It was also the day when the 15-day Shradh period ended, which is considered to be inauspicious for buying anything new. Major Indian carmakers combined the new GST rates with festive discounts, and this, along with all the other reasons, significantly induced demand for cars in the country.
