The Harley-Davidson X440 variant was launched in India in July 2023 and the deliveries for the motorcycle were set to begin on October 15,2023. Hero MotoCorp has already garnered over 25,000 orders for the motorcycle. Hero MotoCorp is responsible for overseeing Harley-Davidson's sales activities in India and has officially started the deliveries for the Harley-Davidson X440. Bookings for the X400 have been opened again from October 16, 2023.
The brand has already sold over 1,000 units of the Harley-Davidson X440 in the Indian market and the deliveries for the motorcycle are in progress at around 100 dealerships in India, including both Harley-Davidson and select Hero MotoCorp dealerships across India. Harley-Davidson X440 is being locally manufactured at Hero MotoCorp’s manufacturing plant, Garden Factory at Neemrana, Rajasthan.
Addressing this, Niranjan Gupta, Chief Executive Officer, Hero MotoCorp, said, “We started deliveries on the first day of the festive season. It will be our endeavour to complete all deliveries over the next 4-5 months. Our supply chain is already in the process of ramping up the capacity, as we would like to serve every single customer in India who wants to own a Harley Davidson and reduce the waiting period moving forward.”
Harley-Davidson X440 - Engine
Harley-Davidson X440 is equipped with a 440 cc, single-cylinder two-valve engine that churns out 27 bhp of power and 38 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission with a slip and assist clutch. In terms of hardware, the motorcycle gets 43 mm front upside-down fork and twin gas-charged rear shocks with 18-inch wheels.
Harley-Davidson X440 - Variants and Competitors
The Harley-Davidson X440 is available in three variants – Denim, Vivid and S at a price of Rs 2.39 lakh (Denim), Rs 2.59 lakh (Vivid) and Rs 2.79 lakh (S) respectively. The Harley-Davidson X440 competes with other Royal Enfield's 350 cc motorcycles, along with Honda H’ness CB350, Yezdi Roadster and Triumph Speed 400.
