No Road Tax On EVs In Haryana:  The Haryana government has revised the state’s active EV policy. The state government has now announced a 100 per cent waiver on the motor vehicle tax for new electric vehicles priced above Rs 30 lakh. The revised policy will also promote women empowerment in the state as the government has announced a special benefit for potential female electric vehicle buyers. Let’s take a look at the announcements made by the state government.

Old EV Policy Vs Revised Policy

Under the previous policy, the Haryana government offered a one-time waiver of up to 20 per cent on new electric vehicles. The government has now increased the benefit by announcing a 100 per cent waiver on road tax for EVs priced up to Rs 30 lakh. It is worth mentioning that customers buying EVs priced above Rs 30 lakh will also benefit from the revised changes, as the government has announced a 50 per cent exemption on road tax for EVs priced above the threshold.

Additional Benefit For Women Buyers

While the Haryana government has made changes to the old EV policy, it has not changed exemptions for CNG vehicles. Notably, the state government offers a one-time 20 per cent exemption on motor vehicle tax to CNG vehicles. The government has also announced a tax exemption of up to 1 per cent on non-commercial vehicles priced up to Rs 20 lakh, if they are registered in the name of a women. While announcing the revised policy, Nayab Singh Saini, the Chief Minister of Haryana, said that the initiative aims to make women self-reliant.
