This marks the first time the Japanese brand has set a specific deadline for transitioning to all-green vehicles. By 2025, Honda aims to launch a total of 10 electric vehicles (EVs), including motorcycles. The company expects to sell one million EVs annually by 2026. By 2030, Honda aims to increase this number to 3.5 million units per year, accounting for about 15 per cent of its total two-wheeler sales.
In recent years, Honda has invested significantly in developing electric vehicles and creating a supportive ecosystem for their growth. The manufacturer is working on solid-state batteries, forming new partnerships for battery exchange programs and installing new charging stations.
In India, Honda has not yet launched an electric scooter or motorcycle but this is expected to change in the coming months. There have been speculations about the electric Honda Activa making its official debut soon. If this happens, it could pose a challenge to existing EV brands like Ola and Ather.
