Hyundai Tucson Discontinued:  Speculations of the Hyundai Tucson being discontinued were high after the premium SUV offered by the South Korean car manufacturer was delisted from the website. The brand has now confirmed that it has officially discontinued the Hyundai Tucson in India. Let’s take a closer look at the reasons behind the discontinuation of the fourth-generation Hyundai Tucson.

Hyundai Tucson Sales

The Hyundai Tucson was introduced in the country in 2005, but the brand discontinued the premium SUV soon after. The brand skipped the second generation of the Tucson and launched the third generation in the country in 2016. The current, fourth-generation model was launched in 2022, and it never crossed the 4000 sales mark till 2024. In 2023, 3692 units of the Tucson were sold, and this is the highest number of units sold. In 2024, sales dropped by 58 per cent to 1543 units, and the premium SUV sold only 650 units in 2025 till now.

Hyundai Tucson’s High Price

The fourth-generation model of the Hyundai Tucson was launched in India in 2022 with prices starting from Rs 27.7 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tucson was sold as a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) unit, which kept its prices high. The Tucson was an attempt by Hyundai to establish itself in the premium SUV segment of the country. However, the premium SUV was lacking the reliability offered by other brands in its segment.

Hyundai Tucson’s Position In The Market

The Hyundai Tucson came equipped with some of the most advanced and premium features on offer. However, the premium SUV was placed at an exorbitant price as it was available only as a CKD unit. The Hyundai Creta, in contrast, offers most of the features for a relatively low price. Also, the Hyundai Tucson received minimal marketing by the brand when compared to other high-volume models such as Venue, Creta, and Exter. All of the abovementioned reasons resulted in Tucson failing to penetrate the premium SUV segment of the market.
