Indrajaal Ranger: Hyderabad-based Indrajaal Drone Defence has unveiled India's first anti-drone patrol vehicle (ADPV), called the Ranger. The Indrajaal Ranger is a fully mobile, AI (artificial intelligence)-powered patrol vehicle engineered to detect, track, and neutralise hostile drones while in motion, according to the Hyderabad-based company. Unlike conventional vehicle-mounted anti-drone systems that operate when stationary, the Ranger is a purpose-built combat vehicle that facilitates on-the-move drone detection, real-time patrolling, and rapid interception and neutralisation.

Indrajaal Ranger: Capabilities, Features, Engine

Based on a rugged 4×4 Toyota Hilux platform, the Indrajaal Ranger can detect drones up to 10 kilometres away and neutralise threats within 4km. It can also capture and control within 5km, disable with soft kill up to 3km, and eliminate with hard kill up to 2km. The credit for the vehicle's impressive capabilities goes to an integrated cyber takeover unit, GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) spoofing technology, RF (Radio Frequency) jamming capability, and a spring-loaded autonomous kill switch.

Moreover, the vehicle also protects convoys, bases, and borders from drone threats, including small quadcopters and coordinated swarm attacks. Powering the Ranger is Indrajaal's AI-powered command system, dubbed SkyOS. Think of SkyOS as the brain of the anti-drone patrol vehicle, combining data from multiple sensors to create a unified system for counter-drone operations.

Indrajaal Ranger: Why We Need It?

The need to develop such anti-drone patrol vehicles stems from recent national security breaches, which highlighted the propensity of drones to facilitate illicit cross-border activities, including smuggling and other nefarious endeavours. And the Ranger will be Indrajaal's answer to ISI-linked weapon smuggling and rising incidents of drone-based drug drops.

Indrajaal claims that the Ranger is designed to provide comprehensive and dynamic coverage across a range of sensitive areas, including border roads, canals, agricultural belts, critical infrastructure zones, and densely populated urban areas.
