KIA, a popular South Korean automaker that has made a significant reputation in the SUV segment in the Indian market, has reportedly discontinued the popular MPV Carnival in India. Kia Carnival was the company's second car in India and was a popular choice for those who value comfort above all else. The company aimed to provide the best in class experience to customers who are constantly on the go (especially on long trips).
However, the business has made no formal word on Carnival's discontinuation, but the report claims that it may have been stopped due to stricter BSVI Phase 2 emission rules that entered into effect on April 1. According to reports, the company would most likely launch an improved 2.2L diesel engine in the future to meet BSVI stage 2 standards.
Surprisingly, the company has introduced in the Indian market the newly updated and BSVI Phase 2 compliant Seltos, Sonet, and Carens. On the other hand, the company plans to launch the Kia Carnival facelift in the global market sometime next year. However, according to the report, the launch could happen in January. The reports also point to Kia's plan to reintroduce the Carnival MPV in India next year. It will be a Kia Carnival of the fourth generation.
Getting back to the Auto Expo 2023, the company has already showcased the Carnival facelift as the Kia KA4 MPV, and it is expected that Kia will introduce the Carnival facelift with the updated BSVI Phase 2 Norm compiled powertrain.
In terms of the facelift, the company may introduce the Carnival facelift with an entirely new design and a hybrid powertrain. In addition, the car can receive cosmetic upgrades such as new headlights, a redesigned bonnet, and an improved rear.
