Kia India has delivered 71 specially customised Kia Carens MPVs to the Punjab Police, marking its entry into the Purpose-Built Vehicle (PBV) segment. These vehicles, showcased as Purpose-Built Vehicles (PBVs) at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024 in Delhi, have been adapted as Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs) to provide immediate assistance to citizens.

The especially customised Kia Carens for the Punjab Police are equipped with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.

The Kia Carens also boasts a 60:40 split second row and a 55:50 split third row, along with adjustable headrests, a 12-volt power socket and five Type-C USB charging ports for all three rows. Safety features include disc brakes for all four wheels, ABS, idle start/stop function and TPMS. They have also been equipped with custom high-intensity strobe lights, public announcement systems and 'Dial 112 - Emergency Response Vehicle' decals. To power these additional equipment, the Kia Carens has been fitted with a higher capacity 60 Ah battery.
