Land Rover Defender Octa Teased: Land Rover has officially confirmed its plans to introduce a new, high-performance variant of the Defender in 2024, which is set to incorporate several features inspired by the recently unveiled Range Rover Sport SV. This new flagship model, known as the Defender Octa, is anticipated to be the most powerful iteration of the Defender to date. Ahead of its official launch, the British automaker has teased the upcoming Defender Octa, revealing details.
Defender Octa - Performance & Engine Specs
Although the complete details of the vehicle have not been disclosed, Land Rover has confirmed that the Octa will house a twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine, potentially the same 4.4-litre unit featured in the Range Rover Sport SV. However, whether it will deliver the same power output of 635 bhp is yet to be confirmed.
In addition, the top-tier Defender will inherit the '6D' air suspension technology from the Range Rover Sport SV, designed to minimise body roll during acceleration, braking, or cornering, while also optimising wheel travel and articulation off-road.
Defender Octa - Design & Features
The moniker "Octa" is derived from the octahedron shape of diamonds, known as the hardest naturally occurring substance on Earth. Land Rover draws a parallel between diamonds and the Defender Octa, emphasising toughness, rarity, and exclusivity. As such, the Octa model will feature a distinct "encircled diamond graphic" on various interior and exterior components.
The Defender Octa is expected to redefine boundaries for the Land Rover brand, despite the existence of previous high-performance Defender models. Drawing inspiration from the Range Rover Sport SV, this new variant will integrate advanced technology aimed at enhancing both on-road and off-road capabilities, while also offering a plethora of luxurious features.
