Hyundai Compact Electric SUV: Hyundai Motor India is scheduled to launch its made-in-India compact electric SUV in 2027. The yet-to-launch EV will be Hyundai's first dedicated localised electric offering for Indian customers. It is believed to be based on the Hyundai-Kia K1 platform that underpins the Inster EV, which is on sale in the international market. The upcoming Hyundai EV is likely to be manufactured at Hyundai's Sriperumbudur facility in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
Hyundai Compact EV: Battery Specifications
At the company's Investor Day 2025, Hyundai confirmed that its built-in-India EV will be offered in two variants – Standard Range (SR) for urban commutes and Long Range (LR) for highway drives, targeting a wider set of buyers. For reference, the global spec-Inster is available in 42kWh (SR) and 49kWh (LR) battery configurations, claiming 300km and 355km (both are WLTP figures). Although yet to be officially confirmed, the compact electric SUV is expected to run on locally produced LFP batteries from Exide Energy Solutions Ltd.
