Currently, Mahindra offers the Thar as a 3-door model. However, as previously reported, Mahindra is preparing to introduce a 5-door variant of the Thar in 2024. The Thar 5-door has been seen undergoing testing on multiple occasions, unveiling significant details about the off-road SUV. Let's explore what sets apart the new Mahindra Thar 5-door.

Mahindra Thar 5-Door - Interior and Features 

Within its interiors, it is expected that the Thar 5-door will get a redesigned dashboard with an enlarged touchscreen, likely a 10-inch unit with AC vents, HVAC controls, and the row of toggle switches at the bottom. New addition inside the 5-door Thar will be individual armrests for the front seats and second-row AC vents. Additionally, it is expected that it will also get a new instrument cluster, a dashboard camera and a single-pane sunroof. Though, the Thar 5-door will only be offered exclusively in a hard-top variant. 

Mahindra Thar 5-Door - Powertrain 

In terms of powertrain, the Mahindra Thar 5-door variant is expected to continue using the existing engine options - a 2.2-litre diesel engine and a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine. The diesel engine produces a power output of 130 bhp and 300 Nm of torque whereas the turbo petrol engine is capable of producing a power output of 152 bhp and 320 Nm of torque.

Mahindra Thar 5-Door - New Names Trademarked

In other news, Mahindra has patented seven new names for the 5-door variant of the Thar off-road SUV. The list of patented names include the Thar Armada, Thar Cult, Thar Rex, Thar Savannah, Thar Roxx, Thar Gladius and Thar Centurion. These names will most likely be the variants of the upcoming 5-door Thar.
