The demand for electric cars has recently been surging in the Indian automotive market, indicating that more and more people are getting convinced to switch to electric cars. This is resulting in manufacturers introducing several electric models in their vehicle lineup. Several electric cars were launched in 2023 and there are multiple launches queued for the upcoming year as well. Here are some EV models scheduled to be launched in 2024. 

Kia EV9 

Kia's EV9 is set to be the second electric model introduced by the Korean automaker in the country, following the Kia EV6. The EV9 SUV is anticipated to be launched in 2024 and is expected to be equipped with a 150 kW electric motor. As per Kia, the EV9 SUV will offer a driving range of 541 kilometers on a single charge.

Maruti Suzuki eVX

Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that it will be launching their first ever electric car, eVX in the later part of 2024. The Maruti Suzuki eVX has also recently been spotted testing, however, not a lot of information about the car is known yet. Though, it is expected that it will offer a driving range of approximately 550 km on a single charge which will be facilitated by a 60 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

Mahindra XUV.e8 

Mahindra is anticipated to launch several EV models in upcoming years like the XUV400 facelift, XUV300 EV, Thar EV and the XUV.e8. The Mahindra XUV.e8 is expected to be launched in 2024 as it has recently been spotted testing as well. Post its launch, the XUV.e8 will be the first 7-seater EV model from Mahindra.

Tata Harrier EV

Tata Motors showcased the Harrier EV prototype at the Auto Expo 2023 along with the petrol variant of the Harrier SUV. Recent reports suggest that the Harrier EV could be on the roads before the petrol variant. While specific details about the Harrier EV remain undisclosed, there's speculation that it may be equipped with a 60 kWh battery that will allow it to offer a driving range of 500-600 km.

Hyundai Creta EV 

Hyundai Motors is in the works to launch a Creta EV model as the model has also been spotted testing in South Korea. From the test mule, it is evident that  the Creta EV incorporates design elements from the standard Creta while maintaining a distinctive appearance. The Creta EV is anticipated to hit the market in late 2024 with its prices being announced in early 2025.
