Maruti Suzuki Launches Made-In-India 5-Door Jimny In South Africa; All About The Car

Maruti Suzuki launched its made-in-India offroader SUV Jimny in India in June 2023. The automobile manufacturer has now launched the Maruti Suzuki Jimny in South Africa. The Jimny SUV has been launched in South Africa with its prices ranging between ZAR 429,900 to ZAR 479,900 that amounts between Rs 19.5 lakh and Rs 21.79 lakh in India. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny is priced in India between Rs 12.74 lakh and Rs 15.05 lakh (ex-showroom).

South Africa 5-Door Jimny 

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny was introduced in South Africa earlier this year. The 4x4 variant is identical to the Indian variant and is shipped from Maruti Suzuki's facility in India to cater to global markets. The Maruti Manesar plant in Haryana serves as the global production hub for the Jimny 5-door, while also producing the 3-door version for export to various markets, including South Africa. The Jimny 3-door has already established itself in the South African market with prices ranging from ZAR 390,900 to ZAR 438,900 inclusive of VAT, which is approximately Rs 17.74 lakh to Rs 19.92 lakh. 

South Africa 5-Door Jimny - Features and Variants 

In South Africa, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny is offered in three variants - GT MT, GLX MT and GLX AT like the Zeta MT, Alpha M  and Alpha AT variants available in India. The specifications of the Jimny for South Africa are similar to the Indian model and the top-tier GLX variant boasts a comprehensive feature list. This includes LED projector-lens headlamps, a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, front and rear powered windows, automatic climate control, electrically adjustable ORVMs and cruise control among other features.

South Africa 5-Door Jimny - Engine 

Talking about the engine specs, it is powered by the same 1.5-litre K15B naturally-aspirated petrol engine that can produce 100 bhp and 130 Nm of torque. It is paired to a 5-speed gearbox or a 4-speed automatic transmission. The Jimny gets an AWD drivetrain as standard with the Suzuki AllGrip Pro 4WD system.
