German luxury car manufacturer, Mercedes-Benz has started 2024 with the launch of the facelifted models of its flagship luxury SUV, the GLS, in India. The Mercedes-Benz GLS facelift has been launched in India with its prices ranging between Rs 1.32 crore to Rs 1.37 crore (ex-showroom). In recent years, Mercedes-Benz has maintained a leading position in the Indian luxury car market, largely attributed to the introduction of new models. At the launch of the GLS facelift, the German manufacturer asserted that it currently boasts the largest portfolio of luxury cars in India, consisting of 24 models.

Mercedes-Benz introduced 10 new models in India in 2023, and for 2024, the German luxury car giant has ambitious plans to further strengthen its presence in the country. At the official launch of the new Mercedes-Benz GLS facelift, the automaker shared that it intends to launch over 12 models in the country this year, with three of them being electric cars. Additionally, Mercedes-Benz also stated that it will emphasise on introducing top-end models, indicating the increasing demand for high-end luxury cars in India.

Mercedes-Benz has not disclosed the specific models it plans to launch in India in 2024.  However, as per media reports, it is anticipated that the manufacturer will be bringing its popular models to the country which include Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Mercedes GLC Coupe, Mercedes-Benz CLE, Mercedes-Benz GLA facelift, Mercedes-Benz GLB facelift, Mercedes-AMG GT, Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV and Mercedes-Benz EQG. The carmaker has also stated that 50 per cent of the upcoming models will be high-end models and will come with a price tag of more than Rs 1.5 crore.

Additionally, Mercedes-Benz India has also stated that it will invest at least Rs 200 crore in the country to boost production capacity at its India plant and introduce new products and technologies. The automaker also aims to extend its retail footprint to at least 10 cities across the country in 2024, with plans for an additional 20 workshops throughout India.
