BMW-owned British automobile manufacturer, Mini Cooper, has unveiled the new generation of the Cooper EV. It is now available in two variants: E and SE. The car is powered by a front-wheel-drive system supported by a single motor that has been tweaked differently for both variants. The car will officially be showcased at the Munich Motor Show this month.
Cooper EV: Design
As seen on the Concept Aceman, the new Cooper EV features rounded body panels. It also has a sculpted hood, brand-new octagonal grille, all-black body, designer dual-tone alloy wheels, and oval-shaped projector LED headlights with integrated DRLs. It has a roof-mounted spoiler, rear wiper with washer, and Union Jack LED taillights from the 2023 model.
Cooper EV: Cabin
The new-generation Cooper EV is a four-seater car and includes a modest dashboard covered with a luxurious fabric. Seats are bucket-type designed with leatherette upholstery along with a multifunctional steering wheel with paddle shifters and a head-up display instead of the conventional instrument panel. It features a frameless 9.44-inch circular infotainment panel and is equipped with the MINI Operating System 9 which is based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) software stack.
Cooper EV: Performance
The 2024 Cooper EV is driven by a single front-wheel-drive motor that produces 181 bhp in the E variant and 214 bhp in the SE variant, both getting a battery pack of 40.7 kWh and 54.2 kWh respectively. The EV is claimed to have a range of up to 402 kilometres.
Cooper EV: Prices
The current generation of the Cooper EV is priced at Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. It is most likely that with the inclusion of the new features and the availability of two variants, the new-gen Cooper EV will be priced more than the existing price tag.
