Top 6 Most Expensive Car Number Plates In India: In India, the car market has bounced back after the pandemic, with new brands and models entering the automotive market of the country. Many luxury automobile manufacturers have also entered the Indian car market for the first time, owing to the increasing demand of luxurious cars in the country. In addition to this, there's also an obsession noted amongst enthusiasts for fancy car number plates, spending significant amounts to get unique registration numbers. To shed more light on this obsession, here’s a list of some of the most expensive number plates in India.

Toyota Fortuner - '007'

Ashik Patel, a big James Bond fan, bought a Toyota Fortuner SUV for around Rs 30 lakh. He really wanted the special number plate '007' for his car. Surprisingly, Ashik spent a whopping Rs 34 lakh just to get that unique registration number, which ended up being more expensive than the SUV itself. 

Porsche 718 Boxster - '0001'

K. S. Balagopal, a businessman from Kerala, owns a Porsche 718 Boxster worth about Rs 90 lakh. He got the fancy registration number '0001' for this car by spending Rs 31 lakh. That's almost one-third of the car's price just for the special number plate. The registration number on his 718 Boxster is KL 01 CK 0001. 

Toyota Land Cruiser LC200 - '0001'

Mr. Balagopal also has a Toyota Land Cruiser LC200 luxury SUV. Once again, he went for the special '0001' registration number and paid Rs 18 lakh for it. The registration number on his Land Cruiser is KL 01 CB 0001.

Jaguar XJ L - '1'

Rahul Taneja, a successful businessman in Jaipur, owns a Jaguar XJ L with the registration number RJ 45 CG 1. He spent around Rs 16 lakh to get this special '1' number plate. He is known for starting his career as an auto-rickshaw driver who has now become a successful businessman in the country.  

BMW 5 Series - '1'

Rahul Taneja also has a BMW 5-Series luxury sedan with the registration number '1'. He's quite into numerology, which is why he prefers this number for his cars. Rahul paid Rs 10.31 lakh for this registration number, even though he sold the 5-Series and now uses it on his 7-Series.

Toyota Land Cruiser LC200 - '0001' 

In Chandigarh, Jagjit Singh spent a massive Rs 17 lakh in an auction to get the '0001' number for his Land Cruiser LC200. This is one of the most expensive registration numbers in the country and it's on his car with the registration number CH 01 AN 0001.
