The National Legal Services Authority has once again released the schedule for the National Lok Adalat. This time the Lok Adalat is scheduled to take place on October 8, across the country. The aim of Lok Adalats is to solve legal issues in a speedy and efficient manner. They are held on the same day throughout the country and a lot of cases are heard and settled.

In addition to resolving outstanding criminal cases in Lok Adalat, individuals can also settle their traffic challans by paying a nominal fee. If you have a pending challan for any traffic violations, such as driving without a valid licence, insurance, permit, or vehicle fitness certificate. Lok Adalat will resolve these issues by paying a nominal or in some cases, by completely waiving off the challan. The Lok Adalat was originally scheduled to take place on September 9 but it was cancelled due to the G20 summit. The new date for the Lok Adalat is now set for October 8 and will take place from 10 am to 4 pm.

To obtain a token for the National Lok Adalat, the registration process is expected to commence approximately 4 to 5 days before the scheduled date. The exact date for the registration window to open has not been confirmed by NALSA, however, it is estimated to start around October 3 or 4.

It is important to note that some misguided information is being circulated online for providing facilities like generation of tokens for disposal of traffic challans. There is no facility of token generation for traffic challans or for any other case on the official website, www.nalsa.gov.in, said NALSA in a notification dated September 4, 2023.
