Tesla Model Y Long Range RWD: Tesla launched its Model Y in Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive variants in India, and within 3 months after the launch, Tesla has silently added a new variant to the Model Y line-up. Whereas the older Long Range RWD has a 78.1kWh battery pack with a WLTP-certified range figure of 622km, the newly introduced Long Range RWD gets a bigger 84.2kWh battery featuring more energy-dense cells from LG Energy Solutions.
New Tesla Model Y Long Range RWD: Range, Performance
Thanks to that, the range has now been increased to 661km (WLTP). 0–100km/h time remains the same, at 5.6 seconds, while up to 267km charging speed can be added in 15 minutes (claimed). The battery continues to be offered with an 8-year/192,000km warranty, with a minimum 70 per cent retention of battery capacity over the warranty period.

New Tesla Model Y Long Range RWD: Price, Availability
Despite having the bigger battery, the new Model Y Long Range RWD is reportedly priced the same as the older Long Range RWD, at Rs 67.89 lakh (ex-showroom). Tesla sells the standard version at an ex-showroom price of Rs 59.89 lakh in the country. While yet to be confirmed, the new variant is expected to hit Indian showrooms soon.
With the new upgrade, the specifications of the Tesla Model Y are now more in line with global markets. Already live in Mumbai and Delhi, Tesla has delivered more than 60 Model Ys across the nation, and counting. For those awaiting the deliveries of the Long Range RWD, Tesla now offers two battery options at the same price, sweetening the pot.
