New BMW M5 - Design
In the teaser, we see that the new BMW M5 will sport wider fenders than the regular 5 Series sedan, following the signature M styling. The car will also feature cabin fibre side mirror caps and a copper paint job, along with various other colour options to choose from. Unlike its smaller sibling, the BMW M3, which faced criticism for its tall retro-themed grille, the new M5 is expected to have a more normal-sized kidney grille. Its overall shape is reminiscent of the BMW 3.0 CSL, with a flatter grille design that doesn't extend as far down as on the coupe version.
The grille will have horizontal slats compared to the old M5's vertical bars. Additionally, the air intake appears small at first glance but includes an air curtain for aerodynamic efficiency. It's important to note that the teaser only reveals a design sketch, so the final production model may undergo several changes.

New BMW M5 - Powertrain
Regarding its powertrain, while it's uncertain if the new BMW M5 will be a plug-in hybrid, there's no visible charging port in the teaser. However, it's expected to feature a powertrain similar to the BMW XM, which combines a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack. The sedan is likely to offer improved technical specifications over the XM, promising a thrilling driving experience. BMW's CEO has hinted at a generous pure electric range as well, aligning with the brand's commitment to electrification.
