The midsize SUV market in India has been witnessing significant demand, with many automobile manufacturers trying to get a share of it. There are several popular models available in this segment such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and Maruti Suzuki Fronx. Tata Motors also has models in this segment which include the Tata Nexon and Tata Punch. In addition to these two SUVs, one of the highly anticipated upcoming models in the manufacturer lineup is the Tata Curvv.

Originally, Tata planned to release the Curvv in the first half of 2024. However, it has now been delayed by a few months. As per reports, the plan is to first launch the electric variant, followed by petrol and diesel variants. Tata aimed to start production of the Curvv EV in early 2024 and launch it by mid-year. However, its production has been pushed to June, and the Curvv EV will probably hit the market during the festive season. The delay is because of the ongoing general elections in India, which usually slows down car sales.
Moreover, Tata also wants to make sure they're handling production and deliveries well for their current models before jumping into a new segment. The production of the petrol and diesel variants will start around September, with the launch expected by the end of 2024 or early 2025.

Earlier this year, Tata showcased a nearly production ready model of the Curvv at the Bharat Mobility Show 2024. It's based on the Nexon and looks quite similar but with some special features for the EV model. In terms of powertrain, the ICE variants of the Curvv are likely to be equipped with a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that is capable of producing a power output of 125 bhp. The diesel variant is expected to use the Nexon's 1.5-litre engine. The EV variants will utilise Tata's Gen 2 acti.ev architecture and is expected to deliver a range of 450-500 km.
