The X-Trail's arrival marks its return to India after eight years as the previous generation model was discontinued in 2014. Originally launched in India in 2005, the X-Trail has been a popular model globally. In 2022, Nissan showcased the latest version of the X-Trail to understand its potential for the Indian market. Since then, the new X-Trail has been spotted undergoing testing on Indian roads.
Nissan X-Trail - Price & Rivals
The Japanese automaker plans to import the X-Trail to India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), which will likely result in a higher price point. Once launched, the X-Trail will compete with large SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Hyundai Tucson, Volkswagen Tiguan, and Citroen C5 Aircross.
Nissan X-Trail - Dimensions
The fourth-generation Nissan X-Trail measures 4,680 mm in length, 2,065 mm in width and 1,725 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,705 mm and a ground clearance of 205 mm. Nissan may adjust these dimensions for the Indian market. Globally, the X-Trail is available in both 5-seater and 7-seater configurations.
Nissan X-Trail - Powertrain
The upcoming Nissan X-Trail will be built on the Alliance CMF-C platform and will feature Nissan's ePOWER drive system. This includes a high-output battery, a variable compression ratio petrol engine, a power generator, an inverter and a 150 kW front electric motor. Two powertrain options are expected - an e-POWER strong hybrid with 201 bhp and an all-wheel-drive e-POWER variant with 211 bhp. Additionally, a mild hybrid version with 12v technology, offering 160 bhp and 300 Nm of torque, may also be available.
